In the library and they’re holding hands

Nobody can see but they are

And that’s enough.

A smile shared between friends

But under the surface, simmering,

There’s something more.

Something hidden behind those glances

Something you can’t see, or won’t see,

Locked in their eyes.

Everything so simple when it’s hidden.

It’s enough that it is there. Enough.

No wanting more.

Very sweet and touching. I like it. A romance starting, or perhaps ongoing, but just shared between the two.

🙂 Thank you. I love it when someone reads a poem and comments something that I hadn’t actually meant to do! It just shows how much poetry is dependent on interpretation! I don’t really think sweet was what I was going for, maybe denial or anger, but then it depends on who you see in your head when you read it! I can read it now with the image of just a hidden love or something but it’s strange that I hadn’t meant it. So weird to realise that sort of thing!

I think you are correct, it is in the interpretation. Everyone’s situation is different, and so is their perspective.

Oh so true, those fleeing moments shared in secret, thinking that nobody else is aware of the passions believed hidden.

So sweet indeed if you are one of the participants, sour in the extreme if you are the partner of one of the participants.

    It’s all about your POV.

Great poem though, whichever side of the line you are standing.

So wonderful, young love! Just to know the feelings, the connections are there is MORE than enough!
